best things about having a brother

Having a brother is one of the biggest blessings that God can endow upon anyone. Having a brother is like having a live Tom and Jerry show in your life. You can’t stand each other but at the same time, you can’t live without each other. People always debate about which bond is better a sister – sister bond, a brother-brother bond or a brother-sister bond. All these relations have their own pros and cons. But as a girl and a proud sister, I can say that having a brother is an amazing thing. The best things about having a brother are that you can be carefree when he is around and you have a constant companion

Best things about having a Brother

Having a brother is like having a permanent partner in crime. Though brothers can push you to the brim of your sanity, they can also care for you as no one else can. Having a brother is like never being friendless. Brothers are always there to give that gentle nudge when you are feeling lonely or low. It’s always the daddies who get all the attention of the doting daughters but brothers are like those silent workers who are always there but never get credit for their work.

So let’s get going and appreciate the brother(s). Let’s see the best things about having a brother:

1. Your brother knows you better than most of the people

Amongst the best things about having a brother is that he is your nemesis, not because you cannot defeat him because you cannot do without him. Since childhood you grow up together you see each other’s development, you share your mischiefs and secrets. Because your brother has seen you so closely and has been with you in all the phases of your life he knows you better than most of the people around you.

2. You have a partner in crime

As children, we all like to get on to the nerves of our parents. Our poor parents. Sigh!!!! Who can be a better company than a brother? Doing mischief with your brother is a different pleasure altogether. Of all the best things about having a brother, most cherished one is having a partner in crime who will always look out for you. This equation is forever. Even when siblings get busy in their own lives there are some things which a sister would like to do only with her brother(s) and vice versa.

3. Brothers make you patient

Just try to think of the times when your brother has tried to get under your skin. I know .. losing count is plausible. But is all this nagging and pestering bad. I don’t think so. I think you kind of tend to become more patient gradually. When it comes to a sister’s temperament the best things about having a brother are not requiring anger management sessions or meditation sessions. A brother will force you to control your anger and stay calm either by hook or crook 😉

4. You have a Bodyguard/ Protector

Brothers are very protective of their sisters. It does not matter to a brother if his sister is younger or elder to him but he will always look out for her. I still remember, when my younger brother and I were very young he used to fight with every kid who used to get into a fight with me. The best things about having a brother are that you know that there is someone watching over you and still you are not told what to do. Especially with younger brothers, it is that they will always look out for you without exerting their authority on you.

5. You always have a shoulder to lean on

Many a time when we face difficulties in our lives we need somebody to just hear us out without being judgmental or suggestive. A brother is just the right person to do that. Out of the many best things about having a brother one most important thing is that a brother will always know what a sister really needs and will act accordingly.

6. He makes you laugh

He is the one who irritates you the most, but he is also the one who makes you laugh like anything. When a brother is around laughter comes naturally. The best things about having a brother are the laughter and memories that make the atmosphere around you light and playful. Even as a brother and a sister you are having some serious discussion, you will find something to laugh about.

7. He helps you keep away from gossip

Girls like to gossip and they cannot help it. We all know that it’s futile and a waste of time but still we indulge in it. Try gossiping with your brother. He will straight away tell you to cut the crap, stop wasting your time and get your act together. Sometimes it may come up as being rude but it is effective all the time.

8. He is your valued critic and advisor

A brother will always state things very clearly to you. He will be blunt with you when you are wrong, he will encourage you when you need support, he will advise you when you need counsel. The best thing about having a brother that he will be your most trusted critic who will always guide you in the right direction.

9. He will be your agony aunt

Be it boyfriend trouble, husband trouble or any other thing which you cannot discuss directly or comfortably with you parents; your brother is always there to lend an ear and try to find a solution to your problems. It’s easier to discuss many things with your brother as he can sense what you feel, he understands your family as much as you do and the constraints that you face.

The best thing about having a brother is the unique camaraderie that you can have with no one else. A brother is that support system of your life who will never ever leave you. Life with a brother becomes a much better place.

I could say this about having a sister except for the protection part and staying away from gossip. I don’t have a brother myself so I wouldn’t know but I’ve seen friends with brothers benefiting a whole lot more than me coz brothers do things that sisters can’t. BUT I looove having my sister, lol.
