One always faces a dilemma – eating out or a home-cooked meal.  Some people think that cooking at home is a waste of time as all you need to is order or buy something which is ready to eat. There is also another set of people who think that cooking at home is important.

I for one, belong to the second group of people who believe that cooking at home is important. It’s not only because I simply love cooking and can’t go long without cooking food, but cooking at home has it’s manifold benefits as well. I also have my own set of crazy reasons as well 😉

Here are 11 Reasons why Cooking At Home is Cool

1.Cooking at Home is pocket-friendly

This is a very popular topic for debate. But contrary to many beliefs cooking at hope is any day cheaper than eating outside. There are lots of methods of saving money on grocery shopping. Also if you purchase from big store chains, the ingredients cost lesser. One can save a great deal every month by cooking at home and use this monthly saving for something else.

2. Cooking at home is healthier

When you cook at home you can moderate the quality and quantity of the ingredients and make your food healthy. Outside food often has a higher amount of fats, carbs, and sodium (salt) than required. Also, the salad dressing available in various restaurants and food chain might not be as healthy as you think. Secondly, with readymade food or restaurant food, you have no control over quality. But when you cook at home, you can be assured that you are using quality ingredients only.

3. Cooking at Home is good for practicing portion control

It’s not always necessary that the serving portions of a restaurant are adequate. Almost all the time people tend to eat more when they eat outside. Instead, by cooking at home one can manage better portion control. You only need to take as much serving as you want. The rest of it becomes food for the next day.

4. Cooking at Home is not as time-consuming as you think

Often when we eat outside or order takeaway, we don’t take into account the travel time or the delivery time. Regular homecooked meals are not very time-consuming. One can make a meal at home in large quantities and store the food for eating later.

5. Cooking at home opens a lot of meal options

Menus at any restaurant or food joint are limited and after some time we tend to get bored with them. After getting a hang on cooking one can experiment at home and create new dishes anytime. You can create your own recipes or alter the existing recipes as per your taste and preferences.

6. You can satisfy all your food cravings

Sometimes it happens that you feel like eating a dish which you know is not available in restaurants or food joints in your town. Sometimes you crave for things and can’t have them because it’s that time when all the restaurants are closed. Cooking at home comes in very handy during such situations. All you need is the right ingredients to make the food that you crave for.

7. Cooking a meal for someone makes them feel special

If you take efforts in cooking a meal for someone, it shows that, that someone is special for you. That you want to invest your time and energy and do something memorable and special for that person.

8. You can flaunt your skills in front of your friends

A talented home chef is appreciated by everybody. Even if your friends are not very keen on cooking themselves, they will always appreciate your food and you will become a star amongst your friends. All you need is the love for cooking or the will to cook at home. For the recipes, a lot of Cookbooks are available in the market to make you a celebrated chef amongst your family and friends

It might sound crazy a bit odd but cooking at home really does make you patient. When you cook often you learn to be patient with things. You learn to give some time for things and it benefits you in the long run.

11. Cooking is a perfect bonding opportunity for the family

Who says that cooking is only a ladies’ job. In present times when everybody is busy in their own lives, cooking at home provides that perfect opportunity to family members or friends to talk and bond over a meal prep. I strongly believe that a meal cooked with your loved ones will always taste good no matter what.

I do love cooking at home because I have FULL CONTROL. That being said, there are two types of cuisines I eat out on the regular because I just can’t make them at home — Lebanese and Japanese!

We hardly ever eat out or by boxed foods. So much better for you. And I like spending time cooking with my whole family.
